1. Are the programmes offered by MTR Academy recognised in Hong Kong?
Yes. MTR Academy's accredited programmes have been validated by the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications (HKCAAVQ). The qualifications of Advanced Diploma in Railway Engineering programme and Advanced Diploma in Transport Operations and Management programme are stipulated at QF Level 4, while Diploma in Transport Studies is at QF Level 3.
2. How do I know if my application has been submitted?
After the submission of your application form, you will receive an acknowledgement e-mail from MTR Academy to confirm that your application was submitted.
3. Do all accredited programmes require written tests / interviews?
MTR Academy will require written tests and / or selection interviews to confirm the suitability of applicants. Eligible applicants will be notified via email or phone calls.
4. Will I be given the opportunity to join MTR Corporation upon completion of the accredited programme?
Graduates from MTR Academy are most welcome to join the MTR Corporation according to their career aspiration. While they will undergo normal recruitment process conducted by the MTR Corporation, their learning experience in the MTR Academy would certainly be an advantage. Job matching will be provided to outstanding graduates who are interested in joining MTR Corporation.
5. Can applicants use other exam results (e.g. IELTS) to substitute HKDSE results? Can students with non-local qualifications apply for programmes of MTR Academy?
MTR Academy suggests applicants to submit other exam results below for our reference. Applicants have the responsibility to show how they fulfil admissions requirements as stipulated (e.g. apply for Qualification Assessment at the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic & Vocational Qualifications).
Qualification below is equivalent to Grade E in English Language in HKCEE/HKDSE
- IELTS overall Band 5.5 or above
- GCSE English Grade C or above
- GCE English Grade E or above
- TOEFL 80 (internet-based) or 550 (paper-based) or above
- IB English with Grade 4 or above
- Yi Jin Dilpoma graduates
Qualification is equivalent to Grade E in Maths in HKCEE/HKDES?
- Pass in Math Plus in Yi Jin Diploma
6. What can applicants do if they forget the login information of the admission platform?
Applicants can click“forget password”in the admission platform login page to retrieve their password. If applicants forget the login name as well, please email to admissions@mtr.com.hk for assistance.
7. Do accredited programmes provide Work Experience Programme to students?
Industrial attachment will be provided to Advanced Diploma in Railway Engineering Students to experience the real environment of work and learn more about the job nature.
8. Are accredited programmes recognised by Professional Bodies?
Graduates from Advanced Diploma in Transport Operations and Management will receive partial exemption from the educational requirements for Chartered Membership of The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (6 out of 8 Papers will be exempted for CILTHK's PQE).
