Station Operations programmes for Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) (2019/06/11)


19 graduates in the Master of Science (MSc) in Railway Engineering with Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) attended the MTR Academy’s one-day Station Operations programme on 11 June 2019.

This programme was designed to introduce the Hong Kong railway network and station daily operations. Participants acquired an understanding of station operations to equip themselves for future undertakings of railway-related engineering project and development.

They first attended a classroom session followed by guided site visits. During the site visits, they experienced MTR well-developed railway system by travelling on the West Rail Line, Tung Chung line and Disneyland Resort Line. Afterwards, students were shown station facilities including Automatic Fare Collection system and Station Control Room, to learn the station daily operations duty in Kowloon Station.

In Kowloon Station, they were divided into 4 groups for the Game Challenge which demanded teamwork, knowledge application of station design and crowd control.

They also visited property development projects above Kowloon Station and explore the possibility of similar railway development in their own country.
