MTR Academy's 2nd Graduation Ceremony (2019/10/16)


On 16 October, MTR Academy (MTRA) held its 2nd Graduation Ceremony for 49 graduates from "Advanced Diploma in Railway Engineering", "Advanced Diploma in Transport Operations and Management" and "Diploma in Transport Studies".  Amongst the distinguished guests were Mr Rex Auyeung Chairman of MTR, Dr Jacob Kam CEO of MTR and Mr Eric Pang, JP, Acting Director of Electrical & Mechanical Services Department (EMSD).  MTR's Executives Mr Adi Lau and Dr Peter Ewen together with Ms Margaret Cheng, Acting President of MTR Academy and Mr David Leung, Dean of MTR Academy graced the event with their presence.

During the opening speech, Mr Rex Auyeung applauded the graduates for their efforts in further education after work with commendable perseverance backed by passion for pursuit of knowledge. He called upon the graduates to strive to provide quality services to the public, undertake the role of MTR's 'Railway People' and contribute to the railway and transport industries.  In his speech, Dr Jacob Kam, encouraged graduates to stay committed even in a challenging and tough situation. Also, he affirmed the MTR Academy's contribution to training local and overseas railway/transport talents.

Ms Margaret Cheng conferred the awards for the three programmes.  Mr David Leung presented the Academy Prizes and Dean's Honour List Certificates to 8 recipients. The Ceremony ended with a valedictory speech by graduate representative, he was grateful that teachers of the MTRA and the MTR colleagues who took the time to arrange for job attachment showed their patience in teaching and shared their experiences and anecdotes other than notes selflessly. At the same time, he also thanked the teachers for making learning through various real and interesting learning modes, and it makes students easier to master the knowledge.

MTRA is dedicated to nurturing talents for the next-generation of railway and transport experts to inject new impetus into related industries.  MTRA students, after completion of one to two years of study, have emerged to join the next generation of talent pool. Going forward, MTRA will continue to uphold the mission of providing high quality training programmes to for staff, the Hong Kong community, and railway industry practitioners in the Mainland and overseas.
