MTR Academy and PolyU CPCE Signed MoU on Development of Railway Engineering Expertise (2020/03/01)

In order to nurture students who aspire to embark on a career in railway engineering, The MTR Academy (MTRA) and the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU)-affiliated College of Professional and Continuing Education (CPCE) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 1 March 2020. The MoU was signed by Mr David Leung Yiu-fai, Dean of MTRA, and Professor Peter P. Yuen, Dean of CPCE.

The MOU sets out the framework to facilitate further discussions between the two parties to conduct collaborative education and training programmes and/or projects for the development of railway engineering expertise. It outlines the articulation pathway for graduates of the Advanced Diploma in Railway Engineering offered by MTRA to SPEED's Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Electrical Engineering (EE) or the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Mechanical Engineering (ME) offered in both full-time and part-time modes.

Both parties will also explore ways to support the industrial training needs of the students of the two SPEED programmes, such as arranging site visits and internships. The two institutions may deliver joint seminars, workshops and lectures for SPEED's ME and EE programmes. The MTRA shall support its staff to take part in these learning activities as guest speakers, final-year-project co-supervisors or visiting lecturers for the two SPEED programmes.
