Qatar Rail looks to Hong Kong for railway related System Assurance Training (2017/12/18)

Qatar Railways Company, commonly known as Qatar Rail, commissioned with the MTR Academy a bespoke 5-day training programme.

The “System Assurance and Implementation Training Programme” was specifically designed for Qatar Rail. The 9-member Qatar delegation team, who flew in from Qatar to Hong Kong, is made up of predominantly engineers. The customised programme covered the critical knowledge domains of Safety Analysis, RAM Analysis, Application of EN 50126, depot planning and construction. During the 5 days, the team interacted with system assurance experts, subject experts and made site observations at the South Island Line and Wong Chuk Hang Depot.

The MTR Academy is proud to have supported and will continue to support Qatar's training demand for railway safety and operational best practices. By extending MTR’s rail expertise from Hong Kong to “Belt and Road” countries, the Academy strives to raise the standard of the global railway industry as well as support the Belt Road Initiative through the corporate services.

Qatar is a Belt Road country in the Middle East. In preparation for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, large-scale infrastructure projects are underway, including construction of stadiums, rails and highways in Qatar. State-owned Qatar Rail is responsible for the design, construction, commissioning, operation and maintenance of the entire rail network and systems, and will manage Qatar's rail network once operational. Lines in the first phase of the Doha Metro are scheduled to open in 2019.
