MTR Corporation Sets Up the MTR Academy (2016/05/13)
In the Chief Executive's 2016 Policy Address, it was highlighted that the Corporation would set up an MTR Academy. The Academy, apart from offering signature programmes in railway engineering technology, operations, management and customer service, will also look to partner with local and overseas institutions to offer accredited joint programmes to participants in and outside of Hong Kong and undertake rail-related research. In the long term, the Academy will also become a leading research institute for rail technology and practices.
The MTR Corporation announced today (13 May 2016) the appointment of Mr Morris Cheung, currently European Business Director, as President of MTR Academy, while he will continue to be a member of the Executive Directorate. Mr Cheung will be appointed as President of MTR Academy to spearhead and oversee the development of the Academy, which is tasked to develop highly-competent railway professionals.
"With his rich railway experience and deep understanding and knowledge of the Corporation's rail operations and best practices, coupled with his previous business exposure, Morris will provide strong leadership to take this important initiative forward and realise the vision for the Academy, " said Mr Lincoln Leong, Chief Executive Officer of MTR Corporation.
